PARIS – Day eleven marked the final day of the Paris Paralympics, a Paralympic games where the United States saw triumphs in events all across the athletic spectrum and proved whether it was team or individual sports, it proved wise not to take the USA lightly.

After the final day of competition, the U.S. has 105 medals (36 gold, 42 silver, and 27 bronze), good for third place among all delegations.

Despite it being the final day of events, the U.S. still saw a couple of Paralympic debuts. Powerlifter Bobby Body, who won gold in the 2023 Parapan American Games in the men’s 107g and +107 kg event, competed in the men’s up to 107 kg competition. The 50-year-old missed a medal by just four kilograms. Ashley Dyce also made her debut, coming in eighth place in the women’s over 86 kg competition.

“The one thing that was tough was waiting so long,” said Body. “We arrived on the 26th, and then today’s the last day of the Games, so it’s like we had to wait until the very last.”

In women’s wheelchair basketball, the United States fell just shy of securing a gold medal, falling to defending champ the Netherlands 63-49. The USA couldn’t stop Dutch two-headed monsters Bo Kramer and Mariska Beijer, who combined for 45 points.

“This group of girls really battled out the quarterfinal, the semifinal, and even this gold medal match. The Netherlands are a great team, we knew that coming in. Just some shots didn’t fall, some defensive errors. All the little, small stuff ended up getting us in the end, but I’m very proud of this group of girls for what they’ve done.” said captain Becca Murray.

On the track, the United States had six competitors participate in triathlons. The only one to medal was Susannah Scaroni, who earned bronze in the women’s marathon T54 with a time of 1:46:29. For the men’s T54, Brian Siemman was the closest to a medal with a fourth-place finish, thanks to a time of 1:32:23.
